Deterministic model of battery, uphill currents, and nonequilibrium phase transitions

چکیده
We consider point particles in a table made of two circular cavities connected by rectangular channels, forming closed loop under periodic boundary conditions. In the first channel, bounce-back mechanism acts when number flowing one direction exceeds given threshold $T$. that case, invert their horizontal velocity, as if colliding with vertical walls. The second channel is divided halves parallel to but located opposite sides cavities. motion free. show that, suitably tuning sizes channels and $T$, nonequilibrium phase transitions take place $N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$ limit. This induces stationary current circuit, thus modeling kind battery, although our model deterministic, conservative, time reversal invariant.

Phase Transitions in a Nonequilibrium Percolation Model
We investigate the percolation properties of a two–state (occupied – empty) cellular automaton, where at each time step a cluster of occupied sites is removed and the same number of randomly chosen empty sites are occupied again. We find a finite region of critical behavior, formation of synchronized stripes, additional phase transitions, as well as violation of the usual finite– size scaling a...
متن کاملPhase Transitions in Nonequilibrium Systems
Collective phenomena in systems far from thermal equilibrium have been a subject of extensive studies in recent years. Usually these systems are driven out of equilibrium by external fields, such as electric field in the case of conductors, pressure gradient in the case of fluids, temperature gradient in the case of heat conductors, chemical potential gradient in the case of growth problems and...
متن کاملNonequilibrium Phase Transitions in Epidemics and Sandpiles
Nonequilibrium phase transitions between an active and an absorbing state are found in models of populations, epidemics, autocatalysis, and chemical reactions on a surface. While absorbingstate phase transitions fall generically in the DP universality class, this does not preclude other universality classes, associated with a symmetry or conservation law. An interesting issue concerns the dynam...
متن کاملNonequilibrium Phase Transitions in a Driven Sandpile Model
We construct a driven sandpile slope model and study it by numerical simulations in one dimension. The model is specified by a threshold slope σc, a parameter α, governing the local current-slope relation (beyond threshold), and jin, the mean input current of sand. A nonequilibrium phase diagram is obtained in the α − jin plane. We find an infinity of phases, characterized by different mean slo...
متن کاملNonequilibrium Phase Transitions in Model Ferromagnets: A Review
The thermodynamical behaviours of ferromagnetic systems in equilibrium are well studied. However, the ferromagnetic system, far from equilibrium, became an interesting field of research in last few decades. The ferromagnetic systems in the presence of a steady magnetic field are also studied by using standard tools of equilibrium statistical physics. The ferromagnet in the presence of time-depe...
